RPS Announces Rapid Growth in System Deliveries
2011 Shipments Exceed Estimates | New Products Boost Demand
Spokane, Washington, January 15, 2012— RPS Automation LLC, a manufacturer of precision soldering automation equipment for electronics assembly and manufacturing, today announced 40% growth in system shipments for the calendar year ending December 31, 2011. System shipments include selective soldering, lead tinning, solderability testing and derivative assembly and test equipment.
This growth exceeded industry trends and was achieved in the face of an industry slowdown in assembly equipment sales growth. The Winter 2012 IPC Market Data Update estimated quarterly equipment growth rates declining from 14.5% in Q1 2011 to -4.7% by year-end Q4 2011.
“This was a good year for RPS”, said Reed Gaither, CEO of RPS. “Our investment in new and improved products, with a wider selection of price points, has delivered a real boost in unit volumes,” concluded Reed.
RPS rolled out new and next generation selective soldering, lead tinning and solderabilty test systems in 2011. Systems such as the Odyssey Lead Tinning System and Rhythm Slide are innovative products in the market and contributed to increased awareness and penetration in new and existing accounts for RPS.
Reid Henry, VP of Engineering at RPS, stated, “Our build quality and innovative engineering have been well received and existing and new customers alike are increasing volumes and trying to get our products in production as soon as possible.”
