RPS Announces Innovative New Selective Soldering System
Advanced Control System Yields 40% Cycle Time Improvements Compared to Competitive Offerings
Spokane, Washington, April 20, 2011— RPS Automation LLC, a manufacturer of automated precision soldering equipment for electronics assembly and manufacturing, announced today the availability of the Slide Selective Soldering System. The Slide System is available immediately.
The Rhythm Slide is an affordable selective soldering machine for through hole component soldering. With a process range of 12 x 12”, the system performs precise dip, drag and dip soldering using the RPS Gaussian Miniwave™and RPS’s proprietary DirectHeat™ nitrogen inertion system.
The RPS Slide Selective Soldering System can deliver productivity improvements of 20-40% compared to similarly priced selective soldering systems. Through the use of advanced system control components and software, the Slide is capable of uninterrupted process control and unrivaled resolution.
“Customers came to us and asked for high performance in a small footprint, affordable package. We were able to deliver,” says Reid Henry, VP of Engineering for RPS and the lead designer behind the Slide platform, "and of course, like all RPS selective soldering machines, we used high-end components because our customers demand that level of performance and accuracy. Through innovative design, we were still able to get the price-point to an acceptable level such that all customers can afford the investment,” concluded Reid.
The Rhythm Slide delivers simplicity and performance through innovation. The Z axis is separate from the X and Y linear stages, and independently raises and lowers the PCB. This eliminates the need to lift a heavy solder pot to the PCB. Free from the burden of a heavy solder pot, the X & Y axes can utilize a high performance closed-loop servo-driven ball drive system for superior motion precision and reliability.
The Slide is in production at facilities in North America and references are available on request. Contact an RPS representative to learn more.
